JANUARY 2017

Happy NEW year!

We started the new year by adopting a new kitten. In my opinion, the BEST way to start the year. She is the sweetest cat. We named her Suki. She is a tortoiseshell. BEAUTIFUL cat.

She has claws which is new to us. Both Bobbi and Indi were both declawed but Suki is very respectful with her claws. She doesn't scratch and even when she plays she keep her claws put away. She didn't fight the doctor when we took her for her shots. She's just a very sweet, relaxed kitten.

We also celebrated Kourtney's 5th birthday! My baby girl will be going to school this year!!! AHH!

We had her party at a park which we probably won't do again. Too many bees!

Matthew lost one of his front teeth so now I have two hillbillies!!

And we booked our Disneyland vacation! We are going in October and staying at the Disneyland hotel! I am so so excited for that trip!
We will also be going to California at the beginning of March to see grandma. :)
Til next time. Hopefully not 6 months from now.

Recap of the past 6 months because I'm a blog failure....

So last time I posted it was like June.
6 months......
I think that's the worst I've ever done at updating this thing.
FAIL.

So here's the recap of July-December.

JULY:

We celebrated Matthew's 7th birthday. Of course it was at Chuck E Cheese's again since the summer here is hell on earth and who in their right mind would have an outdoor birthday party????!!!

We also took a trip to see Grandma for my birthday and my mom's birthday. Berto and I went to Universal Studios. It was fun except the rides aren't made for bigger people. You can't even have a small amount of muscle because you won't fit on the Harry Potter ride. It was dumb. We still made the best of it and had a good time but I think we've decided to just stick with Disneyland.

 AUGUST:

August marks the beginning of school! Matthew went back and is now is 2nd grade! He loves his teacher and is doing really well.
He also was the cool cat the 2nd week of school. (It's basically student of the week)

SEPTEMBER:

I went in to see my ENT to discuss surgery. I had had enough of the sinus infections and all around being miserable. I elected to have surgery and scheduled of early November.

I finished my Bambi cross stitch which brings me to six completed!

OCTOBER:

October was spent in high anxiety with my surgery looming.
We tried to do fun stuff since we didn't know how intense or how hard my recovery was going to be.
We took the kids up north to Winslow, AZ and then stayed the night and went to Bearizona the next day. They had so much fun.
Between July-October we had so many different rental cars because they were trying to figure out the weird noise coming from ours. We took all these impromptu trips in those cars. We also explored Idaho road and stopped alongside the lakes and Goldfield Ghost town. We rode the train and enjoyed the overcast, rainy weather.
We also celebrated Halloween. Just walked around our usual neighborhoods. Matthew was a ninja turtle and Kourtney went as Sheriff Callie.

NOVEMBER:

November 2, 2016 was a life changing day for me. It was my surgery day. I was so nervous and cried a lot leading up to it and cried the day of it. It was rough.
I had all my sinus cavities scrapped out and the septum straightened. The most painful thing for me was my two front teeth. Apparently there is a nerve that runs through those and when you straighten your septum the doctor is basically moving that nerve around. I read that the aching/numbing sensation may never actually go away. I still have it and its January....

BUT. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD.
Literally the BEST gift I could have ever given myself. I have gone almost 3 FULL months without zero congestion. Zero sinus headaches. Just my teeth hurting every once in awhile.
I'm so so so proud of myself for following through with it.
The follow ups were rough. One week after I got the stints removed and he used this weird vacuum type thing to suck any dried blood out.
Week 2 was BRUTAL. I had stints farther up in the ethmoids and he sucked those out with that machine and that was so so painful. I didn't cry in the office but I bawled when I got to the car. And I spent the rest of the day in pain.
Week 3 was less intense. He didn't use the vacuum machine and just looked. He said I was done. I didn't need to see him again for my nose unless I was having problems and to just follow up with my allergy injections.

This is the scope they use to look into your nose to see how bad or blocked things are.

This is before surgery. Obviously I have no idea whats coming for me.

This is after surgery. I felt like death and looked it too.
I know its gross but these are the stints that the doctor pulled out at my one week follow up.

We also celebrated Thanksgiving. It was a awkward Thanksgiving. The whole family wasn't there. There were no board games. It was just kind of boring.
We ended up going black friday shopping later that night. Found some good deals.

DECEMBER:

Well its Christmas time and its my favorite time of the year. We took the kids to see Christmas Lights. We celebrated Christmas with the family. My grandma was here which is always nice. Kourtney got the Barbie Dreamhouse for Christmas and Matthew got a new Nintendo 3 DS XL. They both love what they got.

We tried to see Santa and that was a massive disaster. Kourtney didn't want anything to do with him. She barely even made it into the picture.

We didn't do anything for New Years. Our usual people were sick so that plan went out the window. We just stayed home. Barely even made it to midnight. The kids didn't.

All in all I'd have to say 2016 wasn't a terrible year for me. Of course bad things happened but there were more good than bad this year for once....
