End of January, February, March, April, May, AND June.....

I'm seriously failing at this blogging thing. So here we are catching up again. That should be my life motto.... CATCHING UP....... ugh.

OK here we go.

JANUARY:

At the very end of January I was lucky enough to fly to Pittsburgh, PA with Kinsey to support her while she auditioned for Carnegie Mellon. It was such a fun experience and a beautiful city. I would love to go back to the east coast again some day just to see all the old architecture and beautiful buildings. We went to the mall and drove around the school and did the Duquesne Incline. It was so much fun. The flying part could have been better. I got stuck in the middle of every flight except one. On the way there we flew from Phoenix to JFK and the JFK to Pittsburgh. And on the way back we flew from Pittsburgh to Atlanta and Atlanta to Phoenix. The flight from Atlanta home was by far the worst flight I have ever been on. It was bumpy and the wing we were sitting in front of got struck by lightening! It was so scary. They had people on the tarmac at the gate ready for the plane to check the wing when we got there!

FEBRUARY AND MARCH:

OK so there was Valentine's Day. Berto went and bought me a new coach purse and some pretty flowers.
We also celebrated our 9 year Anniversary! NINE! That seems so crazy to me... Matthew had to get his first filling but he did surprisingly well. He didn't need the nitrous gas! He did better than I ever do!

OMG was March a crazy, crazy month. We went to Disneyland the first week and visited my Grandma. It was a lot of fun. Definitely a great time to do Disney. There were hardly any lines for anything and the weather was decent. We got to see so many characters when we walked threw the gates and throughout the day. We saw Mickey, Minnie (didn't get a pic), Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, The Mad Hatter and Alice (no pics), Cinderella, and Belle. The kids were so excited!  We had a lot of fun. We went to the beach and to Solvang. And just relaxed. Helped Grandma get a new home phone and printer. All the normal stuff.

Later in the month we went to our good friends house, Rich and Roz, to celebrate their daughter Selene's 4th birthday. We were doing what we always do at their house. The kids play with their kids and we talk and play games with the parents and family. We've been doing this for the past 5 or 6 years. Nothing new. Then all of the sudden I hear a blood curdling scream and its from MY CHILD. Kourtney comes out, her mouth FULL of blood and screaming. I look to see where the source of the blood is coming from when I realize she has a hole in her lip. At right about this point I hear my friend Roz say, "where are her teeth?" I FREAKED OUT. Her front tooth on the right and the one to the right of that were GONE. Ripped right out. That's where most of the blood was coming from. I immediately told Berto I was going to the ER and he wanted to come of course but then Roz said she wanted to go too. So the 4 of us went to the ER. Roz's husband watched Matthew. We get there and they put some lidocaine on her lip to stop the bleeding and to numb it. That stayed on there for quite awhile. We were sent for a CT scan to make sure there wasn't any further damage to her brain. That took forever to get the results and at first they told us that we would need to go out to Phoenix Children's Hospital to see the plastic surgeon and that scared me. Finally the doctor came back and said that he had just gotten off the phone with the plastic surgeon and he was told there was nothing serious enough that he needed to see Kourtney, just to stitch up her lip, give her an antibiotic to prevent an infection, and to follow up with a pediatric dentist to look at the holes where her teeth used to be and to check the maxillary bone because she had fractured it . So that's what we did. They burrito wrapped her in the bed sheet. Had one nurse hold her head, one nurse hold her arms, and I had to hold her legs. I cried. I cried having to watch her be so so scared. They had given her 3 doses of versed to help calm her and it didn't help. They were only allowed to give her one more dose because that was the maximum and I was advised it probably wouldn't help if it hadn't already. The only thing it did was confuse her. She kept asking where we were and when I would tell her she would ask why and she did that a couple of times. Haha. But it took 3 people to hold down a 4 year old girl. And let me add they were MALE nurses. Kid is freakishly strong. She got 2 stitches in her lip and some tylenol and sent us on our way.

We saw her doctor the following monday and she wanted the stitches out in 4 days when the ER said 3. We saw the pediatric dentist the same afternoon and he said she was lucky. If you're going to knock out your teeth the way she did it is the best way because it took the whole tooth. Nothing had to be surgically removed. And as far as the maxillary bone, it'll heal. Just give ibuprofen or tylenol for any pain.
We followed up that Friday (4 days) with her pediatrician and got the stitches out. The toothfairy came and brought her $5.
We followed up with her dentist about 3 weeks later and everything looked really good. She never complained of any pain and she had her cleaning and had no cavaties!
She looks like a little hillbilly and will until her permanent teeth come in when she between 6 and 8. So a good 2 to 4 years from now. She's still beautiful!

APRIL:

Matthew finally lost a tooth! He could barely contain his excitement. He almost cried! Haha.
I finally made an appointment with an ENT after battling sinus infections for the past 2 years. He recommended I start allergy injections. I was allergic to 26 out of the 50 I was tested for. I also need to have nasal surgery to fix my deviated septum and to scrape my nasal cavaties of extra mucous that has developed and thickened after all the infections I've had... NOT FUN. I haven't decided 100% if I want to do the surgery. When i follow up with the doctor in 4 months I'll talk with him and decide.
My mom split her head open and I had to take her to the ER.
We went to a baseball game for Matthew's school because we got free tickets.
Our car was hit in the parking lot and luckily the guy left his info but I didn't know that when I screamed at the attendant from the company. ( :( )
We saw Kinsey in Legally Blonde while Aubrey was visiting. That was fun. She did awesome.

WE BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!!!!
It's a legitimate mini van. A 2015 Nissan Quest!!

MAY:

I finished my Cinderella Cross stitch.
Started Bambi.
Celebrated Mother's Day.
Mark's birthday.
Started allergy injections. I get 3 at a time. Normal people get ONE. Nothing is ever straightforward and "normal" for me.

Went on an impomptu "vacation" to California. It was mostly so my mom could attend a funeral for one of her childhood friends but it was fun to meet all the people I've heard stories about my whole life and to see how happy my mom was to see them. It was also great to see grandma as usual. I always love visiting her. We went to the beach of course. I didn't take Matthew because he had school and I didn't want him to miss any so close to the end of the year. We had fun tho.

Matthew had his last day of 1st grade!! I officially have a 2nd grader and I don't know how I feel about it!! Time is flying. We made a little gift for his teacher Mrs. Plein. We loved her so much and hope we love his next teacher just as much!

I potty trained Miss K! NO MORE DIAPERS!!!! YA!

JUNE:

We've started SUMMER. I HATE SUMMER!
We've had 3 power outages, and the A/C break once and freak out once. All on days when its been the hottest. It's been a stressful start of the summer. I paid for the Summer movie package through Matthew's school. It's like 10 movies or something like that for $7 a person. We missed the first 2 on purpose. I didn't want to go. (I know, parent of the year.) THEN, when I tell the kids we are going I realize that morning we missed it. It's only on Tuesday mornings for us and it was Wednesday. I felt so bad! So we drove out to Fountain Hills and I let the kids play at the splash pad over there. We spent like 4 hours there. It's totallty worth the drive. Even though we have a splash pad down the street I'd rather go out of my way to Fountain Hills because there are almost no kids!! I think the max I saw there at a time was 10. Maybe. No one runs you over and there are places to sit and watch your kids and the people are nice.

Thursday Aries's mom invited us to join them at a water park at one of the high schools so I asked my mom to watch Kourtney and took Matthew. I didn't want to deal with two kids who can't swim by myself. But that was a lot of fun.

We've tried to stay inside for the most part this summer because its been way too hot. 120 the other day. I did remember the summer movie yesterday so we went to that but otherwise we've been at home. I just started working with Kourtney on one of those preschool preparation books. She's getting frustrated but we'll get better. We also celebrated father's day!

Til next time! Probably after Matthew's birthday or the end of July when we get back from California. We're going to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS and I'm super excited!!!!
