Another Project :)

I have finished another project!
My home has DEFINITELY benefited from me not having a job.
AND I'm not gonna lie, I LIKE actually being able to DO the
projects I've been thinking about but never had time to do before.

SO, in my living room we have this little lip above our TV and it's
been empty since we moved in. I have always wanted to put something
up there but couldn't figure out what.
I went to Walmart with my mom and picked up fake Ivy leaves and some
clearanced fall flowers yesterday and just put them aside, not sure
what the heck I was going to do with them. Then, I started thinking
that some little trinkets, vases and things of that nature would
look really nice up on that lip with the flowers and leaves....
I looked around Target and Walmart, but I couldn't find anything
I liked that didn't cost a fortune. Then I remembered Goodwill!!
I figured people donate that kind of stuff all the time because they
don't want it anymore. So the hubby and I went to 2 different
Goodwills looking for such items.
I did score on a few things and I also found some mini reed diffusers
at Walmart.
I took the Ivy and pulled off some of the leaves and replaced them with
flowers from the fall bouquet.
My lovely husband got up on the ladder because I'm scared of ladders
and placed everything where I told him to. I LOVE how it turned out
and I am so glad that the space isn't empty and sad anymore!!

The One with LOTS of Projects!

I have been pretty busy lately.
(Reason for lack of INTERESTING blog posts...)

Like I said in my previous post we bought a King Size bed and I have
been decorating around that... mostly.

I knew we were buying a new bed, therefore we would need
a new comforter. I wanted the project in my head
to match whatever comforter we bought.
This is the reason for me NOT blogging sooner.
It's taken me 2 weeks just to pick the comforter and
complete said project.

I have been documenting ALL of it with my camera though. So Lots of pictures! :)

Okay, so first we bought the bed.
Can I just say that having a king size bed is like sleeping
in a hotel bed every night?
(I LOVEhotel beds. They always seem more comfortable to me.)
It's HUGE, so much room! LOVE it!
So I needed a new comforter, but, we decided since we spent a lot
on the bed we would wait a week in between buying the comforter.
I made myself busy with a couple projects.

Project Numero uno:

Updating the pictures of the fam. We had family pictures taken
September of 2009 and those are pretty much the only
pictures I have hanging in my house.
( I never had time to print any and frame them)
I bought these frame templates at Michael's like a month
ago and finally put them to use!
Check them out:

d
I know the middle frame is empty. I didn't count right when I printed the pictures.
I did recently take a picture to fill that frame.
This is it.

Uncle Steven and Matty

This is the day we bought the bed. We had some issues getting the
frame put together before they delivered the bed.

The "old" Queen bed

When the bed arrived they put it down on the frame.
And I realized I needed to put the bedskirt on. So this is the face berto
gave me when I told him we needed to lift the mattress up to put it on.

Cute huh?
Project Numero Dos:

Finding the comforter.
I really wanted to brighten up my room. We had a dark
purple comforter before so I wanted something brighter.
I found this beauty at Target for $29.99!
Total steal!
(Unfortunately, the shams were seperate and $10 a piece)
We still spent WAY less than if we had bought an entire set.

AND its reversible!
Project Numero Tres:

After buying the comforter I realized that my shower curtain
no longer matched. My shower curtain was identical to my purple
comforter. So I needed to find a shower curtain that worked with the new
comforter.
I also decided that since our old bed went to the guest room
that all the bedding and shower stuff would go to the guest bathroom.

So here's my bathroom before:

And here's my bathroom AFTER!!

I LOVE it!! :)

Here's the guest Bathroom before:
Sorry for the toilet...
And here's the guest bathroom after:

I like it so much better!

And last but not least,
Project Numero Cuatro:

I had an idea in my head for the wall above
our bed. I've been thinking about it for awhile but
I didn't want to do it until we bought the new bed.
After getting the bed together I got to work.

I took scrapbook paper and glued it onto wood letters.
I then took an exacto knife and cut the paper to fit the letters.

This thing is dangerous!! It's so sharp!

After the paper...

This is the letter"E" not a 3 or a "W"

This is what the wood letters looked like before I did anything to them.

Roughly what the letters look like when they are done.

Getting ready to put them up.

The finished project!!

New bed and new wall! I Love it!
I chose to nail the letters up instead of using ribbon
(my original plan)
You can only see the nails up close. The ribbon seemed like
too much to me.

All in all I am really happy with how everything turned out!
So there you have it. I really have been busy!
Here's a pic that made me laugh!
I turned around and I couldn't help but
take a picture!

Haha
AND for those of you who are annoyed by my uneven living room...
I am in the middle of geting another bookshelf to match the other side.
Matty's slide was there before but I put it in his room.
Til next time!!

Harry Potter Weekend...

Yep, it's exactly like it sounds. I have spent this entire Sunday watching ALL the Harry Potter movies on ABC Family.

Why?
Besides the fact that I am bored and there is nothing else on, they are showing previews of the very last Harry potter movie!! Comes out July 15 and I am SUPER excited! I LOVE Harry Potter. I admit it. I always watch them when they are on tv and I think I'm going to read the books over again since I have time. :)

On a totally different subject. I am almost done with my bed. I need to find a cute decorative pillow and then it'll be ready for a pic to show on the blog. I also have a new project I need to start.
I'm going to take the letters of our last name and decorate them to put over our bed so it's not so plain. :)

Can't wait til it's done. I'll post pics. :)
Til next time!

Giggle Video

Now that I am at home. I spend a LOT of time trying to "upgrade" my blog. I google ways to get stuff free and free websites to make my blog cuter. I have always wanted to put videos on my blog but for some reason I haven't been able to. I guess I just don't have the right programs or something. Anywho,

while playing around with different websites, I found one called www.vimeo.com.
This is a video from almost a year ago or so of Matthew and his little friend Emily, my friend Carrie's daughter. I just LOVE Matthew's giggle in it. That's why I chose this one as my "tester."

Matty & Emily from Julia Serrano on Vimeo.

So far, so good. Maybe I'll be able to upload more videos of my sweet boy :)

MY VERY OWN SIGNATURE!!

YES! I now have my own signature!! :)

I have been trying to figure this out for 2 days. (Doing this on my hubby's computer did NOT help!) My computer charger decided to stop working on me so I have been without my computer for a few days. Luckily Berto found a universal charger we bought awhile ago for our first laptop that works with my computer and POOF! It's fixed.
I LOVE my computer. Everything is set for ME and everything is already logged in as ME.

Anyway,
YES I have finally figured out how to get my signature at the bottom of my posts and I just wanted to see if it looks good or not. I like it.

We bought a new bed today. KING size. I'll blog about it later after I have bought a new comforter for it. I want it to look all pretty before I put pics up. :)

Getting to know me...

SO....
Now that I am at home all day, I have a lot of time to
sit and think. I've been trying to keep myself busy.
I'm NOT complaining. I LOVE being home with my Matty.
It's just so hard to get used to.
We subscribed to Netflix, so I'm finally getting to catch up on
movies I haven't seen because we are always so busy
or because we can't make it to the Theaters.
I've also had LOTS of time to blog stalk. :)
I read a couple of blogs where people put some of their likes and
dislikes. It's amazing how much you can learn about someone
by just knowing what they like and dislike and some little facts about them.

Here goes:

I LOVE candy. Not chocolate. Sweet candy.
SOUR is my absolute favorite.
I LOVE spicy food.
Not good for my heartburn which is frequent with spicy food, thanks to my little man.
I LOVE animals.
I have 2 cats, and I really want a dog. (sadly my poor fish, Chuckles, has gone to the great beyond)
I LOVE all types of music. I have found a new love for country music :)
I discover that I like new things all the time.
For instance: I spent my whole life hating sour cream. No particular reason. My mother-in-law came to visit last September and made some dinners with sour cream. SO GOOD. So I like sour cream.
I listen to Taylor Swift AND Miley Cyrus, GO ahead judge me. You know you do too. :)
I have TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE allergies.
I am allergic to everything except molds. Proven fact by my allergist. It's sad.
I am allergic to Avocados. People think I'm weird.
It's seriously the scariest thing when I come in contact with Avocado/Guacamole. Ask Berto about that.
I HATE green veggies.
I don't like fruits either. I'm VERY picky. AND I hate that about myself. I'm trying to change by trying things that I know I don't like.
I LOVE all the crime shows. They are so intriguing to me. This scares my hubby a little ;)
I HATE to cook but LOVE to bake.
Ask me to cook something for you and I guarantee it doesn't turn out.
Ask me to bake something, I'm good with that. :)
I LOVE nap time. (both when Matty does and when I can myself)
I HATE to excercise but LOVE the way it makes me feel when I do.
I can't stand people who chew with their mouth open.
BIGGEST PET PEEVE EVER.
I LOVE the house we're renting but HATE Queen Creek.
I dislike In N Out ( I really have to be in the mood for it)
I dislike ice cream.... I know I'm totally weird. I have to want ice cream otherwise its just not good.
I dislike that people don't update their blogs as much as I do. ( I know, I know people are busy and have lives outside of blogging!)

So there you have it. Maybe I'll do another one later when I have more to say.
But, now you know a little more about me.
PS: Im thinking about getting my blog printed. I want to have it to look back on. I found this really cool website that does it for you. You don't have to spend hours trying to rearrange how you want your pictures and which blog posts to have. This one asks you for a date range and whether or not you want to use all the pics or just some. Totally cool.
You can find the website Here

Until next time!

Back to Reality...

This Vacation was so amazing!
We relaxed, shopped, went to Disneyland, ate LOTS of yummy food, and had a WONDERFUL time!
I could not have asked for a better vacation.
I'm warning you now, this is a LONG post with A TON of pictures!!

We had some CRAZY, mean weather on the way.

The first day we were there we went to Santa Monica Pier.
My mom and I went on the roller coaster, and Matty got to ride the little airplanes.
We were attacked by pigeons because my mom thought it would be a good
idea to throw them a piece of my funnel cake.  BAD IDEA!
Scared the crap out of Matty. Funny though.
Me and my mom riding the roller coaster. We're in the way back.
Matty was very excited about riding the airplane ride.

Trying to show him the button to push so we go up and down.
LOVE this pic of Grandma and Matty

Chasing the pigeons

We went to a lot of different malls. Just trying to find stuff we were interested in.
They have such a variety in California. One mall will be ghetto, like Fiesta Mall.
And the next will be WAY too nice for me with stores like Cartier, Chanel, and
Bloomingdales. $795.00 for a poop brown pilot jacket is absolutely ridiculous!
That's 2 car payments and then some for us!

My favorite mall was called The Block at Orange. Its over by Disneyland.
LOVED it. Had so many shops that I love and that is where I discovered this
awesome store!

I have heard people talk about this place and always thought it was one of those
super expensive shops. Totally wrong! They have such cute clothes for way cheap!
We bought Matthew a whole bunch of shirts and pants for under $30!! New favorite!

Monday we set off for Disneyland. We stayed the night and went to the park on Tuesday. Berto's birthday was on Wedsnesday but he
wanted to spend it with Matthew and everyone so we decided to go to Disneyland early.
(We were planning on going ON his birthday)

Disneyland was so much fun! We did both Disneyland and California Adventure.
Unfortunately, a LOT of the park(s) were closed for enhancement. Not the rides, just
portions of the parks. Made it really hard to get around. Instead of cutting across one of the "lands" we had to walk ALL the way around. LOTS of walking.

THIS was the traffic we sat in for almost an hour on the way to Disneyland. Turns out some lady's car stalled in the middle of the freeway and instead of moving it to the side, she sat there and everyone had to stare. CRAZY!

This went on for like 20 miles!!

California Adventure!

Waiting in line for TOY STORY MANIA! Longest line of the whole day!
Berto was player one and I was player two. I was beating him the WHOLE game until the very end!! SO CLOSE!

The Ferris Wheel. We usually don't get on this
because Berto doesn't like it, BUT we wanted to see the development on the "Cars" town. They are building a whole new "land" dedicated to the movie Cars and we are super excited about it! Can't wait to take Matthew!

SUCH a beautiful day!

Trying to get a good picture
I wanted a picture in front of the castle. Please excuse the fact that I totally look pregnant in this picture. I am NOT!!

Haha I LOVE how into this game Berto was. Totally kicked my butt! I SUCK at this game!

This was the cool toy we got matty from Disneyland
Kisses for Daddy on his Birthday!!
Berto celebrated his 27th birthday!

We went to this cool little town near Santa Barbara called Solvang. It was such a beautiful day! (Pretty much EVERY day we were there was gorgeous. Awesome weather!)
Berto and I rented one of those 2 person bikes. It had a cart in the front for Matthew to ride in. It was a lot of fun but it was definitely a work out! Every where we turned was up hill!!

"Grandma, get this thing off me!"
He's so cute :)

Matty got a new ride. He's a stud muffin! I LOVE him :)

Last but not least, we went to the beach and just hung out for a little while. Again, it was a gorgeous day. The water was FREEZING but totally worth dipping my feet into!

He wasn't too sure about the big, blue, wet thing.
Can you tell I'm a tourist? I wore a long sleeve shirt and skinny jeans to the beach!!
(I didn't bring any "cool" clothing because it was supposed to be cold the whole time)

Matthew really enjoyed playing the piano with Great Grandma Lorraine.

Our new car did AWESOME gas mileage. We paid $3.95 for gas while we were there! So coming back to gas prices at $3.39 was kind of nice. I miss California. I LOVE it there. I LOVE the atmosphere. I LOVE visiting with my Grandma.
I don't miss the expensiveness of the state. I don't miss the amazing, rude people.
I don't miss the jacked up parking (they don't believe in BIG vehicles there)
I can't wait to go back. Although I think our next vacation
( maybe a mini one)
will be here:

Hopefully.
We'll see....
PS: I actually had to buy storage for my google account because I have too many pictures!! It was only $5 for 20 GB for the entire year so not too bad but geez! I can't believe I had to buy storage!
