Moments of peace and quiet

BROUGHT TO ME BY:

My wonderful Iphone....

This might just be the only way this girl will lay on the floor in peace and not scream her head off. She gets so angry after like 5 minutes on the floor because she wants to roll over and can't....
So thanks to Pandora and Baby Einstein radio station she is quiet for a few minutes....
Now if only I could keep Matty quiet too.... Then I would be in business.... ;)

Sleep

I can NOT remember what it is like to sleep. I mean really sleep. I haven't had a decent night's sleep since BEFORE I was pregnant with Kourtney. Most restless nights, before K was even thought of, I didn't sleep because Berto snores. Like a freaking chainsaw.... Once I was pregnant with K, I could only sleep on one side, and even then I was lucky if I got any sleep. I had insomnia so bad with her. I just could NOT sleep.
Now, we have a newborn who goes to bed at 10 and wakes up around 5 or 6am. I know that's not bad at all and that I should be happy she sleeps that much. (which I am) It's nights like this past Sunday that kill me.
I got into a movie on tv (Why is it that all the good movies come on at 11pm and suck you in?)and by the time it was over is was 1am. Berto went to bed at 10:30 so I figured he would get up with K since I went to bed so late and he usually takes the super early morning feeding since I have her all day. Well she woke up at 2:30am and Berto did get up and fed her and when he put her back to bed at 3 she wasn't about to go back to sleep.
She was WIDE awake. After about half an hour I knew Berto was frustrated(i would be too, he has to get up at 5:45am for work)so I got up and took K. Holy cow that girl did not want to sleep. I rocked her, I bounced her, I talked to her, I tried EVERYTHING! She wasn't interested at all in sleep. I stayed up until 6:30 trying to get her back to sleep.
6:30 she FINALLY falls asleep. So I lay down in my bed and at this point I am in tears just knowing that I have to take care of 2 babies on like 1 hour of sleep. How was I gonna do it?
I doze off and at 7 Matthew is awake..... I CAN NOT WIN.
I finally get one to sleep and the other wakes up.
MELTDOWN..... You have NO idea.
After a prayer for patience and asking for well behaved children I got up and got ready to face what I knew was going to be a craptastic day. It didn't turn out to be so bad after all. Yes, I was exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open but both Matthew and Kourtney were really good. K slept til 11am and Matty was just being good and helping with anything I asked him to do. Amazing what a small prayer can do.
I can not tell you what was wrong with Kourtney that she didn't want to sleep. NO she did not sleep the whole day. She was not backwards thinking it was day and not night. She is on a schedule and I am really good at keeping that schedule. Who knows....
All I know is that I. AM. DYING. FOR. SOME. SLEEP!
A few more months and Miss K will be a better sleeper and hopefully in her own crib sharing the room with Matthew and not in ours anymore. I can hope right?

I've been updating baby books. Growing up I always asked my mom why my baby book didn't have anything in it. It's almost completely empty. I don't remember what her answer was but ever since I was little I wanted to make sure I always filled in baby books. Just to have for my kids when they got older and wanted to look back.  Anyway, I bought Matty's book and it is filled for the most part. I still have a bunch of pictures I need to print and add. With Kourtney I looked everywhere for a super cute, girly baby book and I did find one but as I was filling it in I didn't like the content. It wasn't as detailed as Matty's baby book is. So I went on Amazon.com (I'm obsessed) and I found an identical baby book to Matthew's. I bought it for $1.47. After shipping and handling it was like $5.47. Awesome deal considering I payed over $15 for Matty's.

We finally bought a photo printer which prints AWESOME pictures so I can get to updating the picture part of their books.

We also got baby K's jumper and she loves it. She's still a little too short for it but she likes to sit in it. I think she likes being upright rather than on the floor.

Next "major" purchase will be Matty's bed.
Couple weeks. I'll update after we get it :)

FAIL

EPIC FAIL.......
I just realized that I never blogged about Christmas.... Like nothing at all. What the heck? I blame it on the fact that I was 9 months pregnant and miserable.... So here goes....

Ok so I did put a tiny picture of Matthew up and said Merry Christmas but that really doesn't count since it was like 2 weeks BEFORE Christmas.
Anyway,
Christmas was not as fun for us this year. Berto had to work so he couldn't drive to AZ to spend it with us. (Remember me and Matty were in AZ waiting for Baby K to come)
So we spent Christmas with Grandma Laura and Grandpa Mark. We slept over Christmas Eve. We made Grandpa read The Night Before Christmas. It was cute. Matty really enjoyed it. This was the Christmas we were so looking forward to because Matthew was finally at the age where he understands the concept of opening presents and he was SO excited. It took him a couple times to get the hang of it but once he did he wanted to open EVERY single gift including everyone else's. He ended opening all of his, all of mine, and even some of Grandpa's. He was so cute.
I took videos of EVERYTHING for Berto to see and we Skyped with him but it just wasn't the same not having Berto there with us. Made me a little sad. We hung out the rest of the day with Grandma and Grandpa, Kinsey, and Steven. And that's pretty much it. But here are some of the pictures I took.

Top Left: Me and Matty Christmas Eve
Top Right: Matty sleeping Christmas morning
Bottom Left: Waiting for Grandma to get his toy out of the box
Bottom Right: Grandpa setting up Matty's new train set

AND MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE....

Haha I love his face. So cute.

So there you have it. The Serrano Family Christmas
EXTREMELY late but better late then never right??

And as far as New Years goes...
I spent it in the hospital in OB triage with
terrible contractions.... So there was no
celebrating seeing that baby did NOT
decide to come that night... haha

Bouncing babies, snow, San Diego Zoo, and things....

Yep, I am SOOOOO behind. Life has been crazy since October when we moved here and hasn't really slowed down until now. These past 2 months have been especially stressful and crazy.  My mother in law was here for 6 weeks.... Everyone has their own way of doing things and whether you want to admit it or not EVERY single women with a mother in law has something that they don't like or don't agree with. AND most people don't have to spend 6 weeks with their mother in law. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my mother in law, but 6 weeks in a cramped apartment with a 2 year old and a new baby...... NOT my idea of fun....

She left about a week ago and then I had a day before my sister Kinsey came for her spring break. We had a lot of fun though. We hit up the San Diego Zoo and just hung out and relaxed. She left last Friday... So after pretty much 6 months of chaos, I finally have my life back! I'll explain why its 6 months.
October and November: We moved and I was VERY pregnant. Had to get used to a new state and city.
December: I drove back to Arizona to wait for Kourtney to come. I was there a little over 4 weeks. I was away from Berto for that long and taking up space in everyone's houses no matter where I went.
January: Kourtney finally came! I waited a week before we drove home to California.
Berto's mom came at the end of January.
February: Berto's mom was here. We had to go back to AZ for my 6 week appointment.
March: Berto's mom flew home and Kinsey came for a week.

Here we are almost April and I'm just barely getting my life back. Let me tell you.... I Never want to have that kind of chaos again. Now the worst of the chaos is just trying to get Baby K on a schedule and to get some sleep.

Speaking of Miss Kourtney (who is of course crying as I update my blog)
She is getting huge! Growing so fast! She will be 11 weeks tomorrow. She is starting to sleep through the night. If we put her down at 11pm she will stay asleep until 5 or 6am. Which is fabulous. Although for me, through the night would be staying asleep until like 8am. haha I can dream right? She is smiling like crazy especially when you make yourself look like a complete idiot but its so worth it for those smiles. Everytime I lay her on her boppy pillow for tummy time she uses her legs to topple herself over the pillow and face plant the carpet. Its sad but funny and she is so quick! If I lay her flat on her back she uses her legs to spin herself around the blanket. She's got some strong legs. I need to get her a jumper because she LOVES when you hold her up and let her bounce on your stomach or legs. Let me tell you, this brings enormous smiles! I can't believe how time is flying.

Mr. Matthew ( I do have 2 children and I promise I haven't forgotten)
He is also getting so big. We are finally getting him weaned from the binky (or the night night as we call it)
He only gets it at night when he goes to bed. He's been doing really well. Both Berto and I have noticed he's been talking a lot more since we took it away during the day. The only downside? He now sucks on his fingers and chews on EVERYTHING! We're working on it.
Things he's started saying:
Nemo!
Lemonade Tea (its a commercial, but the way he says it is so stinking cute)
Move mommy, I can't see!
B-ball (game on our tablet)
Turtle
He knows all the sounds that elephants, monkeys, snakes, cats, and lions make.
Most of the time he will show you what he wants. Like when he wants to play on my phone (cars) he will put his hand out and act like he's drawing on his hand. The kid is so smart, he just doesn't want to talk. haha
He sings with the Disney channel shows. Like Mickey Mouse and Jake and the Neverland pirates.
He loves bath time.
He is SO good about bed time. I rarely have to fight him at all. He's a very good listener.
In the next couple of weeks we are getting him a REAL big boy bed. He has a toddler sized one but we are getting ready to move him up to a twin bed so that we can use the mattress from his toddler bed in the crib for Kourtney. I found a super cute frame at Ikea.

As for me and Berto, we are the same. He works all the time, I stay home with the babies. We did take advantage of having people here and went on a couple dates. The last one was while Kinsey was here. We went and saw John Carter. Oh my goodness, that movie was awesome! Definitely want to buy that one. I think our next date will hopefully be in May if my mommy will watch the kids. We really want to see The Avengers. (I love you mommy)  :)

I think thats all the updates I have for now. I have some pictures of the babies. I did take pictures at the Zoo but my camera died and I haven't bought any batteries so those will have to wait.
Til next time!

*** Oh we went to the snow while Berto's mom was here and I forgot to update my blog with pictures. So here ya go!

Hi!!

I'm 2 months old today!!!
And couldn't be any cuter!
I'm starting to coo and smile a bunch.
I LOVE to "jump"
I'm starting to sleep a little longer at night which always makes mommy and daddy happy.
I like to lay on my new play gym and watch my brother play.
I'm a happy baby :)

...

Ever have one of those days where you wake up in a bad mood? And as the day progresses your mood gets progressively worse and everything bothers you.
Ya.
Definitely having one of those days.... Maybe even one of those weeks.
I NEED my life back.
Ugh....
