Burst of Energy

I had a burst of energy. This is EXTREMELY rare as of late. I never have energy to do anything. Some days I have a hard time getting out of bed and the only reason I do is because I have a 2 year old who actually needs to eat and get a bath.

So, with this energy I decided to run drive up the street to Walmart and pick something out for dinner. I decided on home made pizza AND I really wanted my grandma's butterscotch cookies. I'm so proud because I didn't bring the recipe with me but I knew the cookies call for sour creme so that's all I bought and hoped I had everything else and I actually did!!
My cookies don't do my grandma justice but I have to settle since she is in California. We now have pizza and cookies, the hubby will be so happy :)

I'm exhausted now because not only did I cook and bake I actually cleaned up my mess too!! Haha the little things in life that are such a big deal.....

I'm going to go eat a cookie.... be jealous ;)

San Diego

Oh man, we just spent this last weekend in San Diego/Anaheim and it was SO beautiful!!
75 degrees was the high and it was perfect. Pure bliss. I want to go back like yesterday!! It was a spur of the moment, "lets get out of town/celebrate Julie's birthday kind of thing."

We went with our good friends, Anna, Marco, and Gabe. It was an awesome weekend. I know Berto and I had a lot of fun at least. We spent the first night HERE. We had a minor room mishap but despite that it was still so beautiful! The atmosphere staying that close to the beach was amazing. This hotel is directly across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado. That place is so gorgeous!!  I'm so grateful to have friends that wanted me to experience something like that for my birthday. I would definitely go back.
We hung out on the beach. Matty ate some sand, Gabe built sand castles with Anna, Berto watched Matty eat the sand, I tried to keep the sand off me, and Marco went diving for living things. He did find a crab and a starfish. It was pretty cool.
The next day we went on a 2 hour tour of San Diego Port. It was really relaxing and nice. It made me and Berto want to take a cruise. I think that's what we're gonna do for our next vacation. :)
San Diego Port

These pics are a little out of order. The first ones are the views from the ship tour. These are from the day before when we went down to the beach and walked outside the Hotel Del Coronado.

Waiting for the guys to come back from parking the car so we can board out ship tour...

After the tour, we spent like 2 hours trying to find a hotel for the second night of our mini vacay. Apparently, we picked the wrong weekend to be in San Diego. Comic con was the same weekend and all the hotels were either completely booked or $200 for the craptastic rooms. We refused to pay that much for a nasty hotel room when we knew we could get a better rate somewhere else. We talked about it and decided we would spend the rest of the weekend up in LA or at least somewhere nearby. Originally the plan was Santa Monica but again all the hotels were booked or way too expensive. Finally Berto found a decent hotel in Anaheim (who would've thunk?)
So we stayed down the street from Disneyland. This was heart breaking to me that I was that close and wasn't actually going to the park. We talked about it but decided it would be completely pointless since both me and Anna are pregnant and wouldn't be able to ride anything or walk that much. Besides I really don't want to take Matty until he understands a little more.
We attempted to swim at the hotel but I was a baby and decided it was way too cold. Anna, Marco, and Gabe were troopers though.
Before we headed home the next day we all went over to Downtown Disney and walked around. Marco got his face painted, I bought a Mickey sticker for my car, and we bought the boys these really cool build your own cars. It was so cute seeing Matty's face light up with all the Disney/Mickey/Cars stuff around him.
I put Mickey ears on him because I knew they would look so cute but didn't get him any. I'm saving that for his actual first visit to Disneyland.

Captain Marco... haha

Getting ready to build his Car

He couldn't wait!!

He LOVES his new car!!
Steering his own boat :)

Seriously, the Mickey ears were so cute. I can't wait to buy him his first pair!

It was a much needed vacation and couldn't have come at a better time. Matty was so good with the long car ride and slept so well even though he shared the bed with us. It was so relaxing and I seriously can't wait to do it again!!!! Hopefully sooner than later!

This was probably the highlight of my whole vacation. The first night we were there I really wanted Spaghetti so we went to this little Italian restaurant down the street from our hotel. (It was terrible)
BUT, apparently Matty was exhausted from the drive and playing at the beach because he zonked out at the table. Completely fell asleep in the middle of a restaurant, in his chair. I couldn't stop laughing and I had to take a picture because this kid NEVER falls asleep in weird positions or places. And no I didn't put his head on the blanket. We brought the blanket because we don't have a jacket that fits Matty and I wanted to make sure he was warm. He put it under his head like that! Enjoy!

Updates

Well, I took Matthew for his 2 year appointment. Doctor said he is a healthy little boy. This was the first doctor appointment EVER that Matthew freaked out about. He did NOT like anything the poor woman did! It surprised me because he has always been so good with any doctor. Apparently its his age.... whatever.
He is a petite little man.... haha
He weighs 24.8 lbs which puts him in the 20% range.....
His height is 34 inches which puts him in the 40% range.....

He's always been smaller with his weight but this is the first time he is below average for his height. I bet he hits a growth spurt and shoots up.
He is talking more and more everyday. He likes to say Bye and then an object.
For example: Bye car, Bye daddy.
He has also started saying My. (ie: my night night (the binky), my car.)
And his newest thing is OW. If you brush up against him he says OW, if you poke him to get his attention he says OW, if you look at him the wrong way he says OW. Its funny until you're in public and he decides that whatever you're doing is OW. People give you the look of, "what are you doing to your child?" even though I didn't even touch him.

He is super attached to everyone other than me lately. (I think its the pregnancy) If daddy is home he wants to play with him, if he leaves Berto better plan on taking him with unless he's going to work and then we pretty much have a meltdown.
Same thing with my mom. Grandma can never leave without him having a meltdown.
But, if i leave its, "bye momma." He is practically pushing me out the door! :(

I am now 13 weeks. I'm a whole week into my second trimester and do I feel any better? NO. I had my appt last week and I pretty much demanded anti-nausea meds (politely of course). I have already lost 3 lbs which is exactly what happened with Matthew and I couldn't keep any weight on with Matty. Luckily my OB has no intentions of making me try other methods first. She said she doesn't want to make me suffer if I already know the Zofran works. So things are a little better with those little miracle pills.

This pregnancy is so different than it was with Matthew (care wise). With Matty I had an ultrasound practically at every appt. It was nice because I got to see him so often. The only reason was because that OB said I had a cyst on my ovary that they were concerned about and they wanted to keep an eye on the growth. There were other issues that they worried me with too. This time around I have a new OB and she isn't concerned at all so I have only had 1 ultrasound and the next one won't be until we find out the sex of the baby. Which is at 18 or 19 weeks. POO.... I want to know sooner ;)

Other than that nothing new around the Serrano household. We LOVE Berto's new hours. He works 4 days a week 8am-7pm and has 3 full days off. Its so nice having him home more often to help.
We have lots of birthdays to be celebrated this month. Matty was 2 weeks ago, mine is wednesday, my mom is on saturday! July is a busy busy month in my family. Thank goodness this one is due in January. That month is pretty free and clear in my clan.  Until next time.

4th of July

We spent 4th of July with my brother Clif and his wife Syl. We went swimming and ate the best sub sandwiches ever. SO yummy. I NEED to go back ASAP.
We also helped Kinsey move to Clif's house which was work but I know she'll be happier.
It was a pretty fun day.

We watched fireworks and almost got blown away by all the wind.
That's pretty much it. We are boring people.

Pictures are terrible. It was windy, late, and we were all tired. But thats what you get cuz that is all the pictures I took the entire day. I fail.
Til next time :)

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday Matthew!!
Last Sunday, the 3rd, was my big boy's 2nd birthday.
He's an official two year old. I just can't believe how fast it has gone by.
I feel like I'm gonna blink and he's gonna be all grown up!!
His Cars party was a HUGE success. Almost everyone that
was invited came. Matty sure has a lot of people who love him.

It was a very LONG, exhausting day!
His party was from 12 to 4 so my mom came to help me set up.
Originally we thought Berto would have to work but at the last minute
his vacation was approved! So daddy got to be a part of Matty's big day!!
Since Berto ended up being off, my mom came early and she carted me
around town picking up the cake and balloons, and he watched Matthew.
By the time we were done and got back it was 15 minutes til noon!!
Luckily there wasn't too much that had to be done.

We ordered his cake at Sam's club and when I picked the cake up I was looking
at it and realized they didn't dot the I or cross any of the T's. So it said
Happy 2nd birlday Mallhew. (Try and say that 10 times fast)
I noticed before we left so the lady finished it really fast and we were on our way.
BUT, when we got home and took the cake out of the box I looked at it again
and realized they spelt Matty's name wrong. They forgot the H.
So it said "happy 2nd birthday Mattew."

I guess we can't have everything right?
We ordered pizza and had cake and ice cream.
It was so yummy :)
All in all it was a good day full of family and good friends.
I'm so thankful for everyone who came and celebrated with us.

And of course, pictures as promised!!
