Let's see..... since July.....
AUGUST:
Matthew started school. 1st GRADE! I can't believe it. I will probably say it every year multiple times but I can't believe how fast time flies! It seems like just yesterday we had this tiny baby unsure of everything we were doing and now we have this big, independent 6 year old!
August was mostly just getting back into the school routine. We met Matthew's teacher, Mrs. Plein, and we love her! She is the nicest person and truly cares about her kids. Matthew was the cool cat of the week and he LOVED that. Being the star of the class for the whole week. Kid was in heaven. He loves school! Every weekend he asks if he has school the next day and when I say no he gets all sad. I think its great!
SEPTEMBER:
There were a lot of Kourtney and mommy dates with Matthew being in school. She seems to enjoy the special attention because she really fights for it when Matthew is around. They really fight each other for it ESPECIALLY if daddy is around. So we spent time at the mall and rode the carousel, went shopping, you know the girl stuff.
I got my hair permed and it was a disaster! When will I learn to just leave my hair alone???
I thought it would be great to get loose curls and just get out of the shower and go but I think there was miscommunication between me and the lady that did the perm because I ended up with much tighter curls than I wanted. Then only half the perm took so she re-did that half and then the other half went flat but she didn't want to re-roll that half because it would ruin the integrity of my hair so now I'm stuck with uneven, frizzy, uncontrollable hair and I HATE IT.
There is nothing I can do except wait for it to grow out which is going to take forever because my hair doesn't grow!!!!!! Pony tails for months for me.......
We bought the kids their Halloween costumes. Ya in September... We've learned if you want a costume for a reasonable price you have to get them early otherwise they are all gone and when you do find one they are triple the price!
Matthew is going to be Batman and Kourtney is going to Elsa from Frozen.
Matthew was also the class dojo winner. It's a phone app that connects me to the teacher. She gives points for being on task or being quiet. It's positive reinforcement. Then whoever has the most points at the end of the week gets the class dojo trophy the following week and candy. We had a rough beginning with this but once he realized he gets rewarded for good behavior we haven't had any red/bad points (crosses fingers that I didn't just jinx it). Daddy told him if he won the trophy we would take him to buy a toy so we took him and he picked out an iron man lego set. He was so proud and so are we. He's been doing so great in school! Berto also started working from home at the end of this month and he is loving it, I'm loving it, and so are the kids! Kourtney is by far the most excited! She gets to spend all this extra time with daddy!
OCTOBER to present:
Here we are already in October. This year seems to have flown by. We took the kids mini golfing this past weekend. They had a ton of fun! I always have enjoyed mini golf. Other than being attacked by mosquitoes. Friday, Matthew got smacked into at school right under his eye and ended up with a black eye. It didn't dawn on me until Sunday night that picture day was Tuesday and he was going to have a black eye for that!!! Oh well. It'll be a fun story to tell. He's just a target for that kind of stuff. I just don't want people to think I beat him!
I finished my Pinocchio cross stitch!!!
Now I've started Cinderella!
That's all for now.
We are getting a new bed this weekend and I am SO SO SO SO excited!!!!!!!!!!

Catch up...... Summer, 6th birthday, 4th of July, birthday party, Grandma, Disneyland!!
Summer beginnings.
We tried out the pool a couple of times at the very beginning of the summer but with both kids not knowing how to swim and absolutely refusing to learn from me or Berto we kind of put the pool on the back burner. We're going to have to seriously invest in swim lessons next summer.
We celebrated Father's Day.....
Matthew turned 6 years old on July 3rd!
I can't believe how fast time flies. It doesn't seem normal for me to have a 6 year old!
We took him to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday so he could ride the saddle while they sang to him. He loved it.
We spent the 4th of July at our good friends, Rich and Roz's house. We had a blast like we always do and the kids love hanging out with their kids so its always a win win when we go there.
We did Matthew's birthday party on the 5th so that all his friends could make it. We had it at Chuck E. Cheese and he had so much fun. All but one showed up and we couldn't be more grateful for everyone because he had an absolute blast! He got to do the ticket machine since he was the birthday kid and there is only one 1000 ticket in that whole thing and he managed to get it! It was fun.
We spent the next couple weeks just laying low anxiously awaiting our vacation to California.
We went the weekend of my birthday. The first day we were heading to the beach when our A/C went out in the car. So we stopped by Sears and let them look and whatever they did it came back on and we went on our way to the beach. The kids had so much fun and it was such a beautiful day!
The next day we did our normal trip out to the Sam's Club to get Grandma stocked up on whatever she needs and naturally our A/C went out again but luckily it was a cold/rainy day so it wasn't urgent to get it fixed. We went to Black Angus that night to celebrate my birthday early and I got a free dessert cookie and it was so good!
The next day we took the kids to Disneyland! It started off good because our A/C came back on! Then We realized my mom forgot her handicap placard in the car so we totally used it at Disneyland to get better parking! ( I know we're going to hell)
Disneyland was miserable to say the least. Don't get me wrong we had a lot of fun but it was so humid there that the 85 degree weather felt more like 105 degree weather and we were dying! By the time we got to the restaurant at lunch time I was ready to give up and go home. Not even 4 hrs at the park and I was ready to give up. We sat at the restaurant for more than an hour just trying to cool down and also because Kourtney fell asleep and I wasn't about to wake her up.
When we did finally leave the restaurant we decided we had to at least take the kids to meet Minnie Mouse and after that we would decide what we were going to do. We managed to only stand in line for Minnie for 20 minutes which is unheard of! Then the clouds started to roll in so we decided we would hang in there a little longer and try and get more done. I took Kourtney to the coaster in Toon Town because she was tall enough for that and Berto took Matty to play around Toon Town because neither one of them wanted to go on it. She had a blast! Giggled the whole time and then didn't want to get off because she wanted to go again!
After that we hit It's a Small World when it started to sprinkle.....
After we got off that ride it started to rain harder. We decided to walk over to Space Mountain's gift shop to find Matthew's souvenir and that's when the sky just opened up. Absolute downpour. I was soaked but my head to my toes. My shoes were squishing.......
That's when I said I was done. People were running over people and hitting people in the face and head with umbrellas and I didn't want to deal with that. It was 7pm. I've never left Disney that early! It was an adventure, that's for sure.
We had to stop at Target on the way home to get the kids some dry clothes.
We left the next day, my 28th birthday.
My mom got me a cute little cake and Grandma got me donuts.
But then our friend Rich called and told us he saw on the news that a bridge between Quartzite and Desert Center collapsed. So we spent all morning watching the news for ideas of better ways to get home since the I-10 was closed in that area. That was the longest ride home. What normally take 6 hours took us almost 9. What a craptastic way to spend a birthday! Haha.
So now we're home and we took the car to Mazda first thing to fix the A/C that went out pretty much the second we got home. It was the blower motor thankfully covered under our warranty.
Matthew starts school on August 5 and I am probably more excited than him. We just did his school shopping which cost me almost $60! When did school get so expensive! It's a little ridiculous. It's gonna suck when Kourtney starts and I have two lists of school supplies!
Now I'm just relaxing and working on my cross stitch. Until next time!
