The One About the Costume Disaster

So remember my last post? The one where I was all excited about Matty's costume? The Jake one? Let me tell you I HATE HATE HATE costumes!
Okay, so I saw that Jake costume probably about a month ago and was super excited about it. Well we went to the Disney Store the Friday before Halloween. BIG mistake. HUGE.
I couldn't find any Jake costumes at all so I went to the cashier and asked about them and she tells me that the Jake costumes were sold out company wide, internet and everything. WHAT!?
She then continues to tell me that they have something similar that might work. I follow her to a section of clothing. She pulls out a pajama set of Jake's outfit. And she's half laughing when she does this.

I'm sorry but if I used this as a costume I just think that's ghetto. Like I didn't even try to put something to together for my kid... It just pissed me off that she made a joke out of it.

So first, I'm super pissed that they are out of the costume. Second, now I'm livid that the cashier is basically making a joke about it by showing me a pair of pajamas. Seriously, I was ready to punch this lady. And Third, I just made a trip to the Disney store WITH my 3 year old that expects a toy everytime we go there and it was a colossal. waste. of. time.
So at the end of this trip to the mall we have accomplished

• getting Kourtney her onesie costume
• Paying for valet parking for nothing
• sending Matthew into a fit of hysteria
• I'm flying off the handle I'm so mad
• and still no costume for Matty

Ya this was the absolute worst mall trip of all time. EVER.

My mom then was kind enough to take Matthew home with her so Berto and I could go all over town looking for a costume for Matty (and so I didn't kill him)

We went to Wal Mart and bought a pirate costume that I was NOT happy with but I didn't want to leave it and then find nothing else and have that be gone too.

We went to Party City next, found a Captain America costume that I was okay with. Went to the stupid table to request it from the back and guess what? They are freaking out of that costume. (THEN WHY THE HECK DOES YOUR WALL SAY YOU HAVE IT!?)

Left Party City, headed over to a place by the mall. (At this point I'm pretty sure I had steam coming from my ears I was so mad about all this crap we are going through for a stupid costume)

I found a Peter Pan costume there that I settled on. I actually was pretty excited about it. Then Berto, poor Berto opened his mouth.....

"$35 for this. Feel it. It feels like its cheap."

OMG

Are you serious right now? At this point we are going on almost 2 hours of searching for a costume and I finally am happy with one and then he crushed it.

I was so done at that point.

Tears people.

Tears over a STUPID costume.

And this my friends is why I HATE Halloween costumes.

Did I mention I hate them?

So in the end we kept the pirate costume we found at Wal Mart and he was pretty stinking cute in it. And now I kick myself for going through all of that when I had this pirate costume in my car pretty much since right after the mall fiasco.

Other than that disaster, Halloween was really fun. Matty made all kinds of Halloween crafts and activities at school which were super cute. He also got to participate in the parade at school where he got candy. Berto's job was having a little "spookfest" for the families so we went to that and Matty got more candy. Berto got off early and we went to dinner and then we took the kids trick or treating. Matty got a load a candy. He really enjoyed it this year. After every house he would say "more candy." Haha it was funny.

His Spider hat. I just about died when I picked him up from school and he was wearing it. SO dang cute!

Miss Kourtney was so good. She kept her ears on all night and just hung out. I think she enjoyed being in the stroller while we walked around.

That was our Halloween.
