I don't even know what stops me half the time. Laziness probably.
Okay so I'll start with Halloween.
We planned on doing Halloween at my grandma's house. Figured we would pass out candy (IF there were any kids there) take Matty up the street to get his candy, and just hang out with grandma.
Berto got off at 3:45, got home around 4ish, we left about 4:30. Now grandma lives about 60 miles from us. No big deal.
Well everyone and their creepy friends were going the same direction we were. Holy TRAFFIC.
What normally takes us 45 minutes took us almost 2 hours. We planned on getting to Grandma's at 5:30 or 6..... We didn't get there til 7:15!!
Still glad we went though. I like spending time with Grandma. We were her only trick or treaters ;)
We didn't take Matty up the street as planned. We pretty much just hung out with Grandma and forced Matty into his Mickey Mouse costume for the fun of it. We're so nice.
It's probably better we didn't take Matty Trick or Treating because you know at this age they do the work so that the parents can eat the candy right? Well my Glucose test was the following Thursday so I'm glad I wasn't tempted with all the yummy Halloween candy.
Speaking of my Glucose test.
AZ trip.
We left Wednesday around 4ish. Got to AZ around 10:30pm.
Funny story:
A couple days before we were leaving for AZ I was browsing hotels to find a cheap one to stay in the 2 days we were going to be there. Nothing fancy. We weren't there for vacation. I found a Travelodge that was offering both days for under $100. I told Berto and his words to me were,
"Let me talk to my pillow." In other words, just wait, I'll find something better.
I just said okay and figured he would find something. HE NEVER LOOKED!!
By the time we were leaving my deal that I found was no longer being offered and we had no hotel. Berto says, "don't worry we'll just find one when we get there."
Ok, not a big deal, we do this a lot actually and he always finds a decent hotel for a good price.
OMG not this time!
He found a Travelodge (not the one I previously mentioned) I said sure. (It was 10:30 at night and I was annoyed and tired)
Well when we got there......... Berto had to ring a bell for the front desk person to open the door......
Once he saw that we were out of there.
Berto gets in the car.
ME: So?
B: Julie, I had to ring a bell just for the guy to ask me what I needed.
ME: K?
B: This place is ghetto. Like the kind of place you would take a hooker....
ME: OK well now what?
We drove up the street. Berto called countless places and nobody was worth the price they were asking. It was ridiculous. We stopped at a Walmart and picked a few things up and Berto found a Days Inn. We pulled into the parking lot. This one was in Tempe. As soon as we parked I looked at Berto and all I said,
"Really, this looks just as bad as the first place. You wouldn't take a hooker here?"
Berto just started laughing.
At this point it was like 11:45 and we were both exhausted and completely annoyed. He kept seeing an add or something for Red Roof Inn. I've never stayed at the hotel and neither had he so he calls to see how much their rooms are. Well at the same time he decides that he's just gonna ask the person who picks up if its a nice hotel.
This is pretty much how that conversation went. At least Berto's portion because thats all I could hear......
B: Hi, how much are you guys charging for a king bed room?
Ok thats a good price.
Let me ask you. If you didn't work there would you stay there? Would you consider it a nice hotel?
****
Berto goes on to explain the last 2 places we checked out and how they looked like places you would take a hooker.
****
B: Would you take a hooker there?
Ok cool, now my wife is pregnant and she doesn't want to get bed bugs, so is it a clean hotel?
I'm not trying to be rude, I seriously want to know (he says as he is laughing hysterically)
****
At this point Berto is laughing so hard he can't even talk to the guy on the phone. The poor hotel guy probably thought Berto was pulling some prank phone call. It was so ridiculous. Really really funny but ridiculous.
Either way the guy was a good sport and he answered all Berto's ridiculous questions and we ended up driving over there. It was a really nice hotel for cheap AND they are pet friendly for free!!! We had to bring my cats so they don't die and we were just planning on sneaking them in since they are pretty much mess free but this way we didn't have to. It was a nice surprise.
So our AZ trip was all business.
Thursday morning we got up and went to breakfast and then to my OB appt. We had our 3D ultrasound. Unfortunately, we didn't get any great pics of baby girl's face. She was wedged down in my pelvis with one of her arms covering half her face. The tech tried to get her to move but of course she is my child and she is stubborn. So she was shy about showing her face but not about her privates. She is definitely still a SHE! Ya! I'm more excited about that than seeing her face just because we want a girl so badly! haha. She is healthy. Measuring at 3 lbs and only 1 day ahead of schedule.
After the OB, we went straight to the lab to do my Glucose test. YUCK! Fruit punch drinks are forever ruined for me. And that was the longest hour of my life.
Once we were done there we went to the hotel for a short nap and then to my mommy's to visit. We had dinner and then went to see Berto's aunt and then back to the hotel.
It was a very LONG day. We decided were should leave around noon so that we got home at a decent hour since Berto had to work the next day. AND there was a weather advisory for a dust storm and I so didn't want to be on the I-10 in the middle of the desert while that was going on.....
We missed the dust storm only to hit a rain storm in California. haha oh well. I'd rather have rain than dust! I also got a call from my OB on the way home that my Glucose test was in and I don't have diabetes and my iron levels are normal!!!!!! YA!!!! You have no idea how happy I am about this!!!!!
I have to say that it was so backwards to me to visit AZ for a couple days and return to CA. I really miss my family but I am happy to be home.
Although we came home and had to switch to daylight savings time.... THIS is weird people. I have never had to do this and it is really weird to have a 25 hour day basically. Today is the longest day ever. I'm not gonna lie, its a little frustrating.
We also came home to some COLD weather. In the 40's at night. The only thing I am missing is having a heater. We have these weird wall thermostats but they don't work that well when the room is already cold. Luckily we have a space heater which has saved my life the past 2 days because the apartment has been freezing cold! We have to figure out a way to regulate the temp in here before this baby comes!! haha I'll figure it out eventually.
Well other than that nothing new.
I am 29 weeks and 2 days.
We'll be spending Thanksgiving with my Grandma this year (SO looking forward to her cooking, YUMMY).
And only about a month til I head back to AZ to settle in until the baby comes. I look forward to it because it means I am almost done with this pregnancy but I don't look forward to leaving Berto behind (since he obviously has to work). It's gonna be hard. We'll make it work.
Hopefully I'll be better at updating so we don't have novel posts like this one!
